This course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of phlebotomy, the practice of collecting blood specimens from patients for laboratory analysis. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the phlebotomy process, from preparation and patient interaction to blood collection techniques and safety measures. Covers anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, types of blood specimens, ethical and legal considerations, and maintaining a sterile and safe environment during blood collection.
This course provides hands-on training in the practical application of phlebotomy techniques. Students will develop the skills necessary to perform safe and effective blood draws, including proper patient preparation, vein selection, and use of various blood collection equipment. Emphasis is placed on real-world clinical scenarios and exam preparation for the NHA CPT certification exam.
